No matter what roads you find your next adventure on, you should never worry about your safety. It’s this very reason that we have organizations designed specifically to rate the safety of your vehicle. So, when you’re shopping for your next set of wheels, check out the Jeep Wrangler.

The team at Grava Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (CDJR) believes in making sure you’re fully informed when you buy from us, so we’ve put together this quick overview of the Jeep Wrangler’s safety ratings. If you’re in the Medford, Malden, and Everett, Massachusetts, areas, come and visit us for a test drive.

How Safety Ratings Are Calculated

Before we get into the actual numbers, it’s important to understand what they mean. The  Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rates a number of safety aspects on different scales. For areas such as body structure, the ratings are on a Poor to Good scale, while things like crash-avoidance technology are rated on a Basic to Superior scale.

When it comes to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), their safety ratings are based on a simple star system—like you may see at your favorite online retailers. The more stars an aspect has, the better it is rated.

Now, we’ll move on to how those measurements apply to the Jeep Wrangler.

Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Ratings

So, starting with the IIHS, the Jeep Wrangler scores a Good in four of five categories regarding crashworthiness. This includes things like roof strength, head restraints, and seats. When it comes to LATCH child safety systems, the Jeep Wrangler scores a G+ for ease of use, which is great news if you like to bring your kids along for your off-road adventures.

When it comes to crash avoidance and mitigation, the Jeep Wrangler achieves superiority vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention technology. This is due to the available Full Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus that comes as part of the Adaptive Cruise Control/Forward Collision Warning+ Package.

2021 Jeep Wrangler Red

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Ratings

Hopping over to the NHTSA, the Jeep Wrangler scores four stars when it comes to frontal crash safety. This is determined by having the Wrangler run at a frontal barrier at up to 35 MPH. This simulates a frontal crash between two vehicles, just in case the unthinkable should happen while you’re on the road.

We know you like to explore places unknown—that's why you’re considering a Wrangler in the first place—and often, those roads include steep rocks and hills. When it comes to rollover risk, the Wrangler was awarded three stars. In the Dynamic Tip Test, the Wrangler resulted in No Tip, so you can feel safe on even the most uneven terrain.
