Ram 1500 vs Ram 2500

Deciding on your next powerful pickup truck to help you get the job done around Medford, Malden, and Everett? Are you torn between the Ram 1500 vs. Ram 2500? Both trucks are capable of extraordinary feats, but it all depends on the level of strength you need for your workload or your commutes.

At Grava Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we’re going to take a closer look at the Ram 1500 vs. Ram 2500 trucks. You’ll get a sense of what they offer and how they differ to help you decide which one is the best choice for you!

Ram 1500 Performance

Ram 1500 vs 2500 Engine Power & Performance

The main distinction between these two trucks is that the Ram 1500 is a standard-duty truck while the Ram 2500 is a heavy-duty truck. Each truck offers its respective drivers an incredible amount of power and abilities, but the scales are clearly tipped when it comes to their performances.

The Ram 1500 starts off with 3.6L Pentastar® V6 that generates 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The Ram 2500 opens with a 6.4L HEMI® V8 that can produce 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque.

The Ram 1500 offers a 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine that can produce 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The second Ram 2500 option is a 6.7L I6 Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine that boasts 370 horsepower and a whopping 850 lb-ft of torque.

Ram 2500 Towing

Ram Truck Towing Capacities

Due to the assortment of engine options for both new trucks, they each offer a range of abilities when it comes to towing significant loads across town. The Ram 1500 is the perfect truck if you do light towing or you tend to bring a boat or jet ski on vacation.

The Ram 1500 can tow 7,730 pounds with its base-level 3.6L V6 engine. When you opt for the 5.7L HEMI® V8, you can tow up to 11,610 pounds. When the 5.7L V8 is equipped with eTorque, this capacity expands to 12,750 pounds.

The Ram 2500 is a truck meant for the job site. The 6.4L Heavy-Duty HEMI® V8 gives the truck the ability to tow 17,580 pounds when properly equipped. Selecting the 6.7L I6 Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine will increase its ability to tow up to 19,780 pounds when it’s properly equipped and configured.
